Once she had moved into her new home, Haruki came to the chilling realization that she had not prepared a way to get down. It looked as if she might be stuck there. Forever. Until she came up with a plan to lure in some unsuspecting birds....
oh bella, this flowering tree is heavenly + the birds + sweet girl are so dear. + about home...you easily feel like home/i'd be happy to set up flower pots + a welcoming door next to you. xox
I'm pretty sure this is how my Budgies would enjoy seeing ME....and no luring them in! LOL! Absolutely lovely, like a breath of Spring air in the cold (and snow) of winter. :-)
Those birdies had better charge Air Fare. :) So cute, and these colors are delishhhhh. And to answer your question (about ashes), I would vote for Yosemite Valley. xoxo!!
She oves in a strange house, but I guess she loves the enviroment. The cherry blossoms are wonderfull, and her little blue neighbors are very charming. Hugds Janine
Heh, so little girls eat birds? Whowoodathought eh? :) Well, you know, there's something that resonates with me here. Maybe I always wanted to be put in a cage, or maybe I am little girl at heart, or maybe I just have a thing for cherry blossoms ? :)
But seriously, what a beautifully balanced piece Bella. It's singing. And I love the fact I had to go exploring to find that second bird :)
I am so happy you post more often, There should be more joy in the world if you did.
(PS: I have on fridge a fortune cookie paper thingie that says "Work with Joy".
I'm only a bird in a gulied cage, Tweetie's my name, but I don't know my age. I'm never worried and dat is dat. I'm safe in here from dat old puddy cat! he he he he! Oh just to rent the front lob of your right brain for 2 weeks. How awesome! This is so grand and fabulous. Just like someone I know. Best to you darling for a wonderful and restful weekend. Hugs and love
So very cute Bella...love the blossoms, the birds and the lil Haruki...everything is so perfect! I am sure she would find a way as she found to get in:)))
I really wouldn't mind living in a place like that. It's a cage? Uh.. but it's a lovely cage!! 'Love the flowers, love the bg and love the blue birds!!
I think this is such the sweetest little illustration of yours. Love how gentle and sweet, precious Haruki is, the cherry blossoms, and gorgeous colours. Do hope you are having a lovely weekend Hugs Carolyn
So, will the next picture be of the birds helping her to escape?
Lovely and fun as always. I showed your blog and your doodles to my Mom the last time I was down to visit her. Your illustrations made her smile. Thanks!
~i simply adore everything about this here piece...it sings sweetly of spring...i can feel the warth...hear the birds and smell the scent of the sweet blooms lingering through the air...and you captured the mind of a child perfectly...this reminds me of something my wee littlest would attempt to do...live in the moment without too much thought as to what will come next...i wonder if those wee little birds had enough strength to carry her down...sigh...i love love love what you have shared with us...much love light and blessings shining brightly upon you and yours~
bella, oh how i have missed thee! hope you are doing well. haruki is adorable!! nice work!!! her little house looks so pretty and peaceful. can u draw me into the pic too...nice cozy chair and cup of tea.? do u think the birdies could help me down too when i absolutely HAVE to get back to crazy busy life.?? xoxoxo lin
I thought I'd left a brilliant and lengthy comment about this piece already, checked it off in my mind, but now I remember that I had nothing brilliant to say about it so I decided to come back later. I mean, it's beautifully executed of course, and a memorable image... but I just didn't know what to say about it at first because I had no idea what the symbolism of the birds meant...
However, it did help me to recall how easy it was to climb way up into a tree when I was a kid but not so easy coming back down. I don't know why that is...
Anyway, I'm sending you this message from way up high in a tree. Apparently it's even more difficult climbing back down as we get older :(
~grumble~ Okay I am TRYING not to get mad at Google.. ~harumph~ attempt number7 to leave a comment... I love the little nightengale, her smile makes my heart sing.. When I saw this my first thought was " I now why the caged bird sings" whimsical souls...
Oh my goodness gracious, BELLA! (sorry to shout) Little Haruki is sooo lovely..her pose is delightful! And gosh, she resides in the most beautiful cage appointed with lovely topiary that I have ever seen. You've outdone yourself! What a gorgeous illustration and though she didn't prepare, I do hope she and her lovely bird friends have a splendid time together!
This is wonderful. What a great metaphor. It reminds me of something Machiavelli said about those who gain their throne by favor and intrigue find it very hard to keep, while those who gain their throne by intelligence and talent find their throne easy to maintain by virtue of the skill that got them there.

I do not like this.
No, not the drawing. I do not like the fact that there are already 29 comments before I had the chance to comment.
I am late.

Thank you for the imagination, Miss Bella. I'll go think up more lovely thoughts while putting the baby to sleep. oxx

As usual, I love everything you do.
Happy new year. 11 more months of Bella art!
So cute!
I am sure the little birds will help her down.
just beautiful!
