Heeeeeelp!!!
Hello, and Happy New Year! I hope 2012 is starting off smoothly and beautifully for you. We had an amazing vacation visiting my truly beautiful sister-in-law in Kauai. Days were spent playing in the waves and reveling in sudden rain showers. And in the evenings, we delighted in each other's company over fragrant teas, guitar strumming and the perfect ratio of raisins to almonds. Thank you, C! I hope you are having fun on your board and smiling. We miss you!
Just a few snapshots from our time in paradise. The Stalker Santa in the window creeped out my girls. And yes, feral chickens! Roosters are quite gorgeous, I must say.

I saw a woman on a board too..and just was amazed at how long they can stay on. FABULOUS illustrations (I've missed them!) and such gorgeous photos. I'll have to send the pic of the not-so-pretty-duck that kinda freaked out our family while visiting for salt pond gelato...oh my! But all the other wild chickens were beautiful..ah, to see these pics is a delight! Love those sand balls too! Welcome back!!!

Great your daughter learnt to surf. Make sure she waxes the bottom of the board though (it makes you go faster that way)

Somewhere along the line I decided I like roosters, too, and now I have about 20 around my house. Not real ones, of course. :)

**squeals** Kauai is our Happy Place. We went for our honeymoon and every summer after...till babies arrived. Love love love. I feel like your elephant, however, I do not want to come down. **kisskiss** Deb
From pure enjoyment, to meditation. You bless us, Bella! And inspire!
PEACE!

Whaaaa!!! This is unbelievable. I think the last time 24 hours passed before I made my comment on your blog... wait wait wait, I never commented past 24 hours since I've known you!!!
Ah, the wait is worth to find not one but two fabulous illustrations. Oh my, I feel like that elephant right now!!! Hanging on to a very thin thread of fun. That is a lovable drawing of C on a paddleboard. I hope the dragon is a friendly one J
So wonderful to see you posting, I missed pelting your blog with comments. I did not want to appear like that stalker Santa. Hahaha! That is weird!
Roosters and hens...ugh! Since the arrival of immigrants from Mexico and Asia, we have them here in our subdivision and they are a nuisance crowing at 4AM. They are not as big a emu birds, though, which our Vietnamese neighbor had 14 inside his yard thinking no one will notice or smell!!!
Growing up in the Philippines, we raised hundreds of chicken for consumption, all descended from Elma, the hen and Ma-es, the rooster.
Sorry to burst your bubble but most people raise roosters as fighting cocks. The police busted a ring of immigrants illegally gambling by betting at cockfights.
Roosters are very popular in Asia, especially the Philippines where they use them to battle at cockfights, a major, legalized gambling. They have cock-fighting arenas and stadia all over the country. The loser gets cooked.
WARNING!!! Graphic and violent.

They also have horse-fighting -
DOUBLE WARNING!!!
http://my_sarisari_store.typepad.com/my_sarisari_store/horse-fighting/
and dog-fighting...
Sigh***
ok, now i'm REALLY jealous, looking at the warmth/sunshine... we just hit the coldest days of winter in my area!
supposed to warm up again, early in the week... perhaps to 40F! lol
welcome back, glad you and the girls had a great time on vaca :)
Happy 2012!
As usual, a lovely illustration. Poor little elephant! Your holidays sound fantastic, and I enjoyed the pics. Envy mode on! Have a nice weekend :)

Oh, let go, baby elephant and let the wind take you to me!! I'll give you some delicious hot pumpkin soup and jasmine tea before bed.
Blame Miss Bella for making you too cute that I want you all to myself! Hehehe...
Glad to know you had a marvelous holiday, Bella. Remember to trade places with me the next time you plan another one. :D
Glad you had such a fab tropical getaway! I LOLed at the stalker Santa! :) Thank you for your kind words, Miss Bella. I so admire your creative, inventive, talented mind and your oh so wonderful heart! Big hugs to you!
Glad you had a wonderful vacation! Happy to see new illustrations lol-the little elephant is super cute :) I feel like that some days :/ holding on for my dear life ;) HAPPY NEW YEAR!
All the best with creativity this year!
Oh no! It is not because I want my laundry to be crisp that I line dry them. I just want to conserve energy and I do not want my 100% cotton clothes to shrink. Besides the dryer never entirely removes the wrinkles so I end up starching and ironing my dress shirts.
Hi Bella
Glad you had what looks like an amazing holiday. Happy New Year to you. Can't get over your grounded illio. What a stunning effect - really works well.
Beautiful photos, Bella. Kauai is paradise...
Hope that kitty stays on the board! :)
Hold on Elly!!!! Nessa a comin'!! This is full of life and happiness and joy! All the things a creative soul needs to be inspired and keep it moving. Oh my my goodness I adore each and every single photo. It's awesome Bella! How fabulous. The Santa in the window is DA BOMB! I love him. he he he he he he! One day I hope to go. Soon. Welcome back Bella dear. SO nice and fun to see your illos...I am all ready to help!!! And the lil girl is so cute...The pics are awesome...esp the the last three:)))
Great to have you back:)
HOLD ON little elephant!
Lovely illustrations.
And a great way to spend your holidays; on Hawai!
That elephant is wonderful! Lovely post.
Wow, Kauai looks amazing, glad you have had a good start to the new year. Really love the little pink elephant, what a fab illustration, so cute :)
Normally, seeing Stalker Santa would be the highlight of my vacation, but not in Hawaii, it's got him beat. Especially those sudden rain showers you speak of that would come over and keep right on going. I remember the last night there, watching the sunset and not wanting the week to end. Maybe someday I'll return, even die on the beach like Paul Gauguin did, surrounded by beautiful native girls. Or was that Tahiti where he did that?
Lots of love and kisses and hugs and smooches!! (I see that a lot on this blog. Just trying to fit in).
Oh yeah, I forgot these: XXXXOOOOXX!
Aw, who am I kidding? That's not me. I give gift cards instead.
Did somebody say gift cards!? O.o
Lol! Sorry I got excited there for a minute :)
Dear Bella,
Glad you had a wonderful vacation with your family in Hawaii.
Such a great place to spend time in paradise with the beautiful beaches.
Loved seeing your snapshots and above all your wonderful illustrations, adore the cute lil elephant.
wishing you a wonderful and happy 2012.
Sending hugs
Carolyn
Don't know how I missed this gem. How wonderful to have such a brilliant holiday but, whatever did she do t o be grounded?
When we visited New Zealand, there were whole flocks of roosters in forest car parks that people had just put out there and kept the chickens from the broods. Since there are no foxes in NZ, they lived out their lives scratching a living and begging from tourists.
I like the cat on the board, my daughter used to take our German Shepherd windsurfing. They loth enjoyed it too.
I am so glad you are back.
Very beautiful.
I love the glassy water of the surfer girl illo. The stalk-tethered pingk elephant is wonderful!
Your trip sounds delightful. Thanks for sharing.
OK Bella...I finally "Let Go and Let God" in Whom I trust(ed). Ended up on my back--SPLAT! PLOP! So much for 'trust'....
However, all better now, started to climb up there again--don't look yet. I'll let you know when I've reached where you so gently placed me.
Love and PEACE
Elephant
