Illustration Friday - Shadow

Theodore sat and rested in the shadow of a nearby tree,
lest he dry out from the hot midday sun.

Sssssshhhh, this was supposed to be for last week's Asleep, but I fell asleep and didn't get it done on time.  Don't tell the IF Police, okay?

About a month ago, an extremely rare all-white kiwi was born in New Zealand.  Isn't he adorable?  When I saw him, I knew I had to have him.  On paper, anyway.

Have a great week!

OFFICER! I want to report a
"Sleep-on-the-job Peep."
"That's right...
a 'Sleep-Peep'!
Name? Bella!
No, not 'Stella' like a 'Star'.
BELLA--like a 'ding-dong'..."

OH! Bella, forgive me! Just could not hold myself back. HAHAHAHA!

(...and I am there-almost-dried, fried frog under that kiwi-shape shade tree.)

This posting is outSTANDING!! And I just LOVE the illustrations
and the white kiwi babe...who might kiss the nearby frog???

You have a beautifully creative mind, Bella-Girl. And a gift of rare talent to match. Thank you SO much...
PEACE!

Hi Bella,

Oh this is so sweet, love your illustration of the white kiwi and the little green frog.
This kiwi is very rare and the first to be born in captivity.
He is not actually albino but the rare offspring of a North Island brown kiwi, from Little Barrier Island. ( LBI we can see from our place) way out to sea.

Happy week
Hugs
Carolyn

Dear Bella,
thank you so much, for your dear comment. Your friendship means so much to me. You are one of the reasons I love blogging and won´t left it. Your latest painting is so admirable. And the detail with little froggy is sooooo sweet.
I wish you a great spring day

Nothing like a lazy summer day in the shade of the kiwi tree.:o) Your characters are so sweet! Love the detail! I always loved kiwi birds. What God didn’t give them in wings... he sure compensated with cuteness :o) I know what you mean about falling asleep... it must have been the suggestive power of the IF word. The IF police were here looking for you yesterday... I sent them to New Zealand :o)

I LOVE that fancy new kiwi-chap. I watched the stupid video so many times I melted from the cute. I wanted him too, but I wasn't as proactive as you. I just whined and longed and pined and melted.

I like knowing your kiwi also has some cute friends and cares so much about Theodore's relative moisture level.

I love the texture detail in your kiwi illustration and the sweet protective gesture. Froggy and the little fuzzy character seem very content to be under her wing...winglessness??
Endearing at any rate!
It's always a pleasure to stop by your blog, Bella!

Wow, your illustration of the white kiwi may even be more cute than the real thing! :) So cute and tender, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy:)

Barbara said...

So adorable. I just knew that "tree" was alive. :) I was worried about the frog until I saw the next drawing.

And the kiwi is sweet as it can be.
You are such a ball of talent, Bella, and your sense of humor is a delight.

Alicia Stucky said...

I love the idea as much as the beautiful illustration.

I like the enlargement and cropping of the frog, very simple yet gives lots of room for pondering.

Did I ever tell you that Echidnas make me think of eating Icescream? No probably not, because if I had told you that I would have been lying!

Actually echidna's make me think of eating Taro roots - raw - now if you have eaten raw taro you know what I am thinking off....

But seriously :) How delicate this is, even the spikes are delicate, and I feel all fuzzy wuzzy, even with the frog (I am allergic to them if I eat too many I break out in a rash)

Heh, heh, I love how you have zoomed in to show us the frog and then zoomed out to show us en situ, both so delightful and lightful.

I came yesterday and wrote something equally magnificently funny but google ate my gaggahha!

OOOOH Girly! Your secret is safe with me Mama! How deliciously fabulous and what a wonderful start to a story. You are brilliant! Oh yeah, excuse my stinky breathe and horrible hair. I just crawled out from under my creative rock to see what you have been up too. I 'm finally here in Charlotte, NC and loving it! It was one of the best moves I could have made. But I feel like your perfect little frog cause it's hot as heck down here he he he he he he! It's Africa hot girl. We all need to stay out of the sun for a bit. I love it here though. I have missed you so much and thanks so much for sending the sunshine over to my blog. When I had breaks in-between family and work I would run over to see if there was message from you or Ces or Anne and or Eric and a host of others. I was having some rough days and your bright wit and hilarious humor got me through it. Thanks so much for being a friend. You know that I love you. I really do. You are the best. Okay enough with sweet stuff. Got to git busy once again.
Sending you the warmest hugs from Charlotte.
Love you

Bella!!!WhaddyameanyouareaKodakinstamaticcamera?!!!Pffft! Your illustrations are so refreshing. They are full of mirth and touches everyone who views them from my very masculine son and husband to my CIO to the sheriff's deputies. You turn men into "aahhwing" beings! When macho men express themselves like gushing HS girls and be not ashamed to do so, that is a mark of a great artist. Your process is perfect for you! I love your art! Tsup!

I had to come by and see my froggie prince and the chick-a-dees. They do my heart good. North Carolina is wonderful and I think I will love it even more after I kill all the bugs and spiders and stuff. Girl the spiders are something else out here!
Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving me some joy and peace and hilarious humor. I need is so much these days. I miss you so much. I really do girly. How are the sweet girls? Happy to be out of school I'm sure. Hopefully I will be back to blogging soon. As soon as I catch my breathe. It's been a lot going on.

I saw your comment at Andrew's and I left this comment: Oh I forgot to mention this. Yes, there are head lice (pediculosis capitis), pit and body lice (pediculosis humanus) and pubic lice (pediculosis pubis). The lice jump and the most active ones are the body lice. I have seen them jump from the patients to the beds! The last one, pediculosis pubis or crab lice have hooks! I have an illustration of pediculosis pubis. I may dig it up and re-post it.
