i love the two little marks/"dots" behind her knees...such a dearie pie! oh, and the forest toothie looks quite gentle and yet it looks like she'll need to still muster up some courage, as i'm not so sure she thinks so! another mega imaginative & adorably beautiful illustration, dear one!

Love you and your blog. Thanks for dropping by and the kind remarks!
You just illustrated my week Bella. Have you been here? Have you seen me peeping around corners trying to escape the dust-bunny monsters? Have you seen me running from responsibility and trying to get out of funeral home visits? Quite seriously, the little girls outfit looks like what I wore when I was in parochial school......wow...flashbacks! Absolutely delightful! wow, I'm digging those trees Bella, they are awesome. Its dark and moody but not too dark. I likey, and your creepy monster tooth tree thingy is very interesting. I do love your imagination sweetie, you are so creative!
That is so much fun, Bella. You want to holler: look behind you! But he looks like a kind enough apparition. How much trouble can he cause with a tree growing out of his head? (Don't answer that!) Really, you say so much in one illustration.
OMGoodness, Bella! The emotion and movement you capture is incredible. JoY JoY JoY! Up up on her little tip toes, strange kid is so sweet. I am waiting waiting waiting for your BOOK. I will need several copies for my future grandchildren. You ARE a writer/illustrator of children's books. You do know that, yes??? What a delight to be inside your mind. **blows kisses** Deb
You've struck the perfect balance of darkness and light with this one Bella! I just love it. Alone in this trail-less, gloomy forest would not be fun, but you've provided a guide, of the spirit of trees - what could be better?! To be able to come face to face with your *wild things* would somehow be a most comforting sort of fright!! love, Karin
aw, bella, i wish i could take a vacation in your head. i love the way it works. i hope you don't explain this one - it's more fun to read everyone's questions and comments and wonder all about it!
hmmmm... (I'm thinking) - (why?) ... your comment on our blog (thank you so much Bella! you're always welcome! bienvenida :D) make me realize a new interpretation of your drawing: maybe the monster is only a child-monster-tree... a root! and in his head his first branches are growing. The monster has grown more than I! hmmm... that's my next step...
Really weird kid... but he looks so friendly... Your imagination is huge, First I have to look up for the word ""trail" because I didn´t understand. Now...WONDERFUL! (I do what I can with my english)
Hey Bella! This is so enchanting! Love your perspective. You are so funny, whimsical and endearing at the same time. How do you do it? Gotta love that funny-looking-kid!
Bella my Love, you have captured the fear in all of us of the unknown in whatever guise it comes. So often it is the very light that lights up our life that we fear most. In its glow we may find the happiness we so often feel is not our due. A truly wonderful illustration.
Hi Bells, I'm knocking at your door quietly today.. Something just struck me again, and this time it was a comment I read in Grete's blog. It was yours.
I've known about your loss for a while, but never the cause, and it struck me because I now live in the same constant fear that you must had. Probably the same kind of ignorance and recklessness that anger me sometimes. Somehow, the fear just gets worse each time I encounter a story like yours. I'm so am afraid that something bad would eventually happen and I won't be able to do anything about it. :((
But of course, thank you so much for sharing it, I'm now none the braver but probably wiser.
Love this sweet little piece, what a cutie and standing on her tippy toes. You have such a great imagination and love the darkness of the forest and the big tooth monster.
Hope that you are having a great week Hugs Carolyn
Oh Bella! I love popping in and seeing what you conjure up..and every time, I am sooooo very delighted! Thank you for letting me pop into your world and pretend that I am little again...I know that that sweet woodland creature just wants to say hello to that strange little girl who is lost. I hope it helps her get back home, for I wouldn't want her to be scared! : ) Hugs to you.
Ah you know, I used to dream this kind of dream when I was a kid but the white thingy always ended up being someone who helped me, or something I could eat like, or something to nudge me and say, "wake up before you pee in your jammies!"
This is too cute! She is going to scream like a little girl, isn't she? Of course, she is a little girl, so that's okay. :)
I don't know what your "strange kid" is though I agree, he is rather tooth-like, but he looks kind, so hopefully he'll hold her hand until she starts breathing normal again!
Aw, Bells!! My heart swelled when I saw you knocking at my door!! I thought I really blew it with my 'sad' comment. I hope you're feeling better and will scatter your lovely comments throughout blogland today.
Well, no more worries now, I'm going to watch the happy fireflies dance! ((HUGS))
Bella! LOL! Oh, I do so love this darker side of you and your illustrations. hahaha! We all feel like this sometimes, don't we? Like we've ditched the Undertoad, only to find him right behind us. Your little beastie doesn't look too scary - he's actually kinda cute. :) Happy weekend, O Creative One! xo Pam
Wonderful! Reminds me a bit of that scene in Spirited Away and that turnip looking creature in the elevator who seemed scary but turned out to be very nice. May be this one will turn out nice too and just wants to play with the little girl :)
Hey Girly! Are you tipping on the Tightrope???? I see you over there dancing Bella! AWWWW work it out now! he he he he he! Hope that you are having a wonderfully wiggly weekend! Hugs! You know I love you right?? Okay I love you! Later V
How are you Bella? It's ALWAYS so great to read your kind comments. It is such a horrible thing to know what devastation has occurred in the Gulf..and for future generations who will inherit it. It makes me sad..very sad. I am going to try to contribute to Kelly's efforts with original 2.5 x 3.5's...just need some downtime.
You are so nice to leave one for my Sierra. She is all smiles! : ) Yes, I'm such a proud momma. I have not seen the movie, "My Neighbor Totoro"..but I did see the cover at the store today. I thought of you! I should really see the movie...was it good? We are having a family movie night tonight -Johnny Depp in Alice in Wonderland. Can't wait. Hope you are having one wonderful weekend!! Hugs to you.
If I knew how to get in touch with the talented child, I would send her a copy. Alas, my fan club days are over and I don't know how to find out stuff he he he he!
what a wonderful illo!sweet, gloomy, misterious in the same time like a brothers Grimm stroy:I must say I thought about Tooth-Fairy when I saw it:))the tooth-like shaped fairy is a coincidence?or you have a new episode of the story:))?
Hello Bella, just popping by. I know you do not want to mark today, but thought I would just let you know you are very much in my thoughts even so.
Your blog is so amazing. I'm blown away by your pictures, but what strikes me at least as forcefully is the massive and imaginative response they ellicit. You truly spark off people's imagination in a quite unique way. Laughing Wolf has it right, this has childrens illustrator written all over it.
Hey Bella, I think I sound like a broken record to both you and Ces but the word *book* keeps coming to my mind. Ooooh.... what a wonderful book all your pieces would make. You are so incredibly talented!! Great work, my friend!!
Alice was wonderful! Ha! We had a great movie night...I can't wait to see Totoro! Will do, Bella. Thanks for the kind words at We Love! I know...just a photo chicken I must say..someday I will get myself over that one. : ) Thank you for your support - you are the bomb! : )
Oh my! Hadn't been here in a few days and my heart skipped a beat when I saw that eerie but welcoming creature in the woods. If you have a chance, go over to my blog for today, Bella, to see a photo of a palace built out of twigs. It's like your little guy is the personifcation of that structure. Same shape, same tree/twigs sticking out from the top. Pretty nifty! ;o)
DING, DONG...Ah, I see your bell is still intact? Well, madam, could I interest you in a bottle of Magika Great Hair Shampoo? No lizards' tongue added, just a few snails and beetles this time. (^-^) oxx
Ah! My dearest Bella! I am lost in my trails without you here. Today is the 17th. Eeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaw! Think of me at noontime today. It's the part of my job I hate the most. Let's see, I woke up very early because my schedule is all messed up. I hope you will be back on your own happy trail today.
Aha Bella, ummm I don't know what to say. gee the body language on the girl is beautiful, and the tree growing out of the head - just amazing, with these elements you have convinced me this is a real scene. I'm also admiring the way you handled the trees to get that sense of depth - let me go and look again and get out my notebook ----
Wow! Very wonderful message & interpretation here. Love the adventure that you have setted, so poetic.... I pull myself back and wondering where is the trail! Great idea and love it!
Fun, fun, fun!! A little scary (reminds me of some dreams I've had), but your sweet style makes it a little less frightening! When is your book coming out?!? Love, Silke
Fun, fun, fun!! A little scary (reminds me of some dreams I've had), but your sweet style makes it a little less frightening! When is your book coming out?!? Love, Silke
Always so nice to hear from you. I hope your summer has been magnificent. I don't believe I've seen this piece - wonderfully mysterious in comparison to other pieces. Always great stuff wondering the corridors of your mind Bella.
But right now I am going to have left over curry chicken soup with broccoli, mushroom, new potatoes, green beans and sweet potato cutlets. YUM! I will have it with muesli bread.
Epsilon 2 is back from work and finally crashed on the sofa. Tonight I will saute zucchini, scallions, red and yellow tomatoes, red and yellow peppers with jumbo shrimp and served with steam orzo. I also have to boil some beets and bake the acorn squash. I bought chicken dumplings for the epsilon at whole foods. I need to learn how to make those.
ACK! Here I am surrounded by food and eating a hearty soup and then I am reading a book review of Mao's Great Famine, about his policies that led to catastrophic famine in China where hungry people resorted to eating leaves, roots and dirt. Not like my kwashiorkor pediatric patients in the Philippines who were eating dirt and sand for food during Marcos. Evil men and yet some Americans praise them.
I am searching for Korean cuisine. I did not know we have a Korea Town here! We do. I have never been. It is in the city. We always go to the Vietnamese Town which is fast becoming city.
ve awful Filipino restaurants here. They fry everything until it looks like a barbed wire and it is so greasy and they have different regions., not my region.
I love Tex-Mex. We have great Tex-Mex restaurants here, but there must be something about the spices and grease. Tex-Mex food is very very fattening. A lot of carbs and saturated fats but it is sooooooo good! I love fajitas!
Whole Foods has good food but pricey. The organic boneless chicken breast cost $7/pound. You can buy the same chicken at Walmart for $1.00 each half breast. It comes in a box of 8 and is located on the open freezer section, however, not all Walmart stores carry it. Some Walmart stores only carry the fattening foods. The ones located in white suburbs carry the more expensive organic stuff. Isn't that something? It all depends on demand.
I made orzo with olive oil-sauteed garlic, onions, scallions, zucchini, carrots, broccoli, red and yellow bell pepper, red and yellow tomatoes... yum! Lots of garlic!!! Double yum!
I need to buy Coke zero. I miss the taste of soda. Right now, I will drink hot tea. Oh we are trying this agave syrup, instead of honey, we will use this, very sweet, so you use very little, plus it has low glycemic index so it does not spike the blood sugar.
Good morning. Have coffee with me. I will serve yours on a Fiesta Sunflower mug or if you prefer, a Scarlet. Oh wait, you love the Tangerine color! I promise I wil be quiet since you are probably wiping off the sand from your eyes.

The trees are amazing. The way you can tell a story with your images is truly an art form.
Now I'm going to have nightmares about being chased through the forest by a large tooth. And maybe about why I'm wearing a schoolgirl uniform.

Wow! This is quite inventive!
Fun, fun, fun!! A little scary (reminds me of some dreams I've had), but your sweet style makes it a little less frightening! When is your book coming out?!? Love, Silke

Oh my god this is so amazing!
You're so creative, I love it.
Where did you learn how to illustrate so well?
This is amazing. How did you do cute and a little creepy together?!?
I just love this...
I love this, I love this, I love this, I love this!!! Hello Whitey Beastie! Don't scare the little girlie!
The girl's popliteal regions are so cute. I want to bite her legs!
Nom, nom, nom. They remind me of little babies' legs.
Is that best edible? It looks like a giant marshmallow. Very yummy looking.
Ooop I mean beast, not best although it is the best beast ever!
I love the girl's uniforms, I love the backpack, I love her hair, I love her legs, I love the trees.
I shall return. I have to do another load. Please do not close this comment section.
Please don't!
Okay, I am back. But I need to think of something more intelligent, which may not be possible today.
I am getting excited!
Two!
Aaaw Crud! I can't count off.
This is two!
One!
Kaboom! 100!!!
Mission accomplished~~~~
Tsup!
TSUP!!!
Always so nice to hear from you. I hope your summer has been magnificent. I don't believe I've seen this piece - wonderfully mysterious in comparison to other pieces. Always great stuff wondering the corridors of your mind Bella.
I love this. The twisted trees are so cool and I still think that girl's popliteal regions are the cutest and I want to nibble on them.
So that figure I called the walking bicuspid is a radish! Is that the spicy kind? Nom nom nom, oh wait, thst is not a radish, that is a juicy burger!
Aaah! There you are. Do you remember that tree and that drawing?
But now, the tree is blooming again.
Aaah! Synchronicity my dearest Bella Sinclair. Who would have thunk we were related through trees?
I drew it to express how I felt about what happened to you.
Then you asked me if I was alright. Imagine that. You were still thinking of others during your most difficult time.
It was when I realized how much you meant to me. How precious and valuable you are, how much I realize you were my friend and my sister too.
I is home! I is home! I just got home from WF.
I found Korean BBQ Sauce there and I also bought bufallo sirloin. So my bulgogi will probably be different. I also thought of making pad thai.
Robert bought roasted garlic from the olive bar - UGH! UGH! Lucky me.
I am finishing Quirky Marie Landica!
Oh talk about mold, I have not found anyone quite like you, not even a tad.
"That's it?' should never be used when addressing you. That will be so disrespectful, almost blasphemous.
I mean, not unlike. That is a double negative...
I don't know, for some reason, I feel okay. That's because I slept yesterday afternoon and evening!
Good afternoon! I am going to bed now. I am sleepy. I will nap before my walk. Tsup!
OOOOOH! How come I was not awakened by the comment bomb from the west?
There are so many!
I am drinking coffee with a slice of muesli bread with peanut butter.
I am searching for Korean cuisine. I did not know we have a Korea Town here! We do. I have never been. It is in the city. We always go to the Vietnamese Town which is fast becoming city.
Do you know that the city streets signs and names in downtown Houston and most parts of the city of Bellaire are in Vietnamese characters?
The Vietnamese Town is the entire strip of Bellaire from Houston to Mission Bend which is a about 18 miles.
There are so many things I don't know about this city... I can't remember the last time we ate at a restaurant, here...
I always get a tummy ache every time we go to any restaurant unless it is an expensive restaurant.
Forget Mexican! I am sure to suffer immediately.
Vietnamese takes about 2 hours...
Thai , oh yes we went to a Thai restaurant last month, I forgot. It was okay...I did not get sick then.
Chinese, I don't really get sick because I only eat a dish where I can identify all the ingredients and it is usually a shrimp dish.
Oh yes, we had Italian three weeks ago but I only ate salad.
ve awful Filipino restaurants here. They fry everything until it looks like a barbed wire and it is so greasy and they have different regions., not my region.
I do not. Actually, I just wrote that to see if you will notice. I will delete it later.
Hmn... 20 minutes of self love is good.
One hour is even better.
The Viking and I did it together.
But he was so fast and soon he left me behind.
I just took my time. I was on steady pace.
I could feel my heart beating, I was beginning to perspire...
Profusely!
I let beads of perspiration drip down my face.
My legs and thighs no longer hurt like they did the first time.
I love walking!
The park was almost empty and as soon as the sun went down a bit, droves of people came. Some pet owners are irresponsible. I hate that.
I love Tex-Mex. We have great Tex-Mex restaurants here, but there must be something about the spices and grease. Tex-Mex food is very very fattening. A lot of carbs and saturated fats but it is sooooooo good! I love fajitas!
Epsilon I eats pho almost everyday at the Vietnamese noodle house with his Thai-American friend.
Oh! I wore Peter's sunglasses today. The silver-framed. Thank you.
Are you vibrating?
I made orzo with olive oil-sauteed garlic, onions, scallions, zucchini, carrots, broccoli, red and yellow bell pepper, red and yellow tomatoes... yum! Lots of garlic!!! Double yum!
The orzo is whole wheat. No I did not boil the beets and roasted the acorn squash. Too much food. Tommorrow, I will.
I need to buy Coke zero. I miss the taste of soda. Right now, I will drink hot tea. Oh we are trying this agave syrup, instead of honey, we will use this, very sweet, so you use very little, plus it has low glycemic index so it does not spike the blood sugar.
I am doing loads of laundry and drawing... Okay. I will let you eat in peace.
TSUP!
Good morning. Have coffee with me. I will serve yours on a Fiesta Sunflower mug or if you prefer, a Scarlet. Oh wait, you love the Tangerine color! I promise I wil be quiet since you are probably wiping off the sand from your eyes.
Oooooh! You are such a stealth bomb!
I figured you will find them.
Too much multitasking here. Print this, read that, page this, Crap! I am still in my jammies.
The beets are done.
I will use the red water to wash my face.
The lasagna sounds good!
I make spinach lasagna that used ground turkey instead of beef. That was yummy!
I should really take a shower and get dressed. What do you think?
Man! Some of these oaks are truly interesting. So many herbal remedies. Just astounding information!
Did you eat oatmeal?
Yum! The beets were delicious!
It is raining here today.
Thunder and lightning.
The skies are dark and grey.
I is drawing. What else is new?
Yum yum! I am going to eat!
Rain...rain...rain...thunder...rain...lightning...rain...rain...
I have a fresh stock of office supplies. Ooooooh I wonder what I can mail or wrap or mark...
Hmn, I feel like writing something...
Hmn, I feel like writing something...
out in the street...
they were arguing for days...
they were in the car, she was driving...
the husband got out of the car and stood behind the car...
she drove in reverse...
and forward...
and reverse...
oh wait...
wasn't that a long time ago?
that dentist...
do you know, I knew that dentist when she was a resident at UT?
but it's true, it happened again last night...
down the street.
these Texas women, they use anything as weapons...
why does the name Hermine remind me of a ferret?
I need to eat...
some Korean Filipino creation I invented last night..
200! Time's up for now.
