IF - Linked

At the encouragement of a good friend, I squeezed out one more Totoro, which wasn't difficult considering how much I adore the works of Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. There are friends who stimulate me with love and laughter, friends who inspire me with incredible art, and friends who challenge me to push further and step outside my comfort zone. I am lucky to have all types, often within the very same person. I started drawing again two years ago, and I probably would have packed the pencils away after a few short months had I not been adopted by such an extraordinary second family. Cheers to you all.

p.s. Initially, my daughters looked at an earlier version of this and thought the girl was being blown away by a Totoro fart. Aaah, I love my little art critics.

Oy sometimes, I am so weakened by something or someone so beautiful like this morning. My eloquence leaves me and my chest hurts. I love you and everything you do. I need to lie down...

I made it early this time. Oh no!! Never pack away any of your art supplies. That would be a tragedy. You are so talented, my sisterfriend. I love what your daughters said.....hahaha! Leave to our children. Great piece.

Oh, sweet Bella, I don't know why I often look at your beautiful paintings and feel a lump in my throat. There is such a sweetness about your illustrations and yet you make such a powerful statement! I am so glad you are inspired to keep drawing and painting. You make the world more beautiful...

Much love to you!! Silke

P.S. My word verification is "swort," which is how I pronounced sword before I was able to speak English without a German accent. ; )

P.P.S. I forgot to say - LOVED your girls' comment about the fart! They are my kind of girls...

tammie took the words right from me! i can't imagine this world without you and your pencil. i nearly collapsed into myself at your girls' interpretation. my 7 year old just weighed in. she doesn't know who totoro is, so she thinks he is a lovely elephant with no trunk, and astonishingly she did not take the fart route from the rear view! she thinks the strings are tied to the trees, and that the birdies are keeping the strings and girls aloft. FABULOSO drawing! you keep doing what you do - don't you dare put those pencils away!

❦TattingChic said...

Fwahhhh! I thought of what I saw...the serene butterflowers and strings and then the tortoro fart...such extreme differences...LOL! So funny! Thanks for visiting my blog! You silly whimsical friend of mine! I wuvs you!

Right back at ya Bella! I get that wee leap in my belly when I see you have posted! I love coming here, I think I would be quite lost without you and thank you so much for your comments that make me all teary eyed and smiley! So thank YOU! your drawings never fail to amaze me I could ask you a thousand questions, your friends are the best for inspiring you to pick art up again for it belongs in your hands! children always tell you the truth. I had a two year old telling me she did not like my hair in a ponytail. She was so right! Very miss trunch bull! ((hugs))

My, my, my, look at all those divine trees..!! And Totoro looks like a gorgeous giant magical topiary! YOU, Bells, are a rare gem... always so surprising! (in a most charming way too...hahaha)

No revenge. Apparently some people think I am really insane. I have reputation to maintain. I am not that crazy, just a little bit crazy.

Ces said...

Oh and another thing, I will be very sad, probably really depressed that I have to take anti-depressants and I will be so heartsick and just wither away if you did not create art and if you were not around. In fact I might as well just stop painting. I will work as a tool booth operator.

Ces said...

To paraphrase someone:

Bella I love you. I love you for a million years.

This drawing is genius. Pure genius.

You are on a roll.

Hardy har har.

I can't live without my Bella.

I love you.

Dear God, I miss Renee.

I miss when we played on Friday nights and Saturday evenings.

She would have loved this so very much.

She will say you have outdone yourself but she said it with every drawing you did. So do I.

Ces said...

Oh you have done it.

I love you a billion times, no a trillion times...

Don't say Math is not my strong suit. I know for a fact that a trillion is a lot...

Hannah Marechal said...

Wow, great pic. Love all of your work...amazing!

Ces said...

Yes, she would have spit her tea allover the monitor. She would have made it so much fun. She would have not made me feel like a fool but a kid and young at heart.

I am crying. I really am crying and I am not embarrassed to say it because Renee made crying honorable and honest. She would have prodded me to take lewd photographs and then she would say that she will exercise my evil brain and say

Repent, evil , sata, devil, and there will be pigs somewhere in there. I cannor see what I am typing...

damn word verification I should be exempted.

Krista said...

HA! I showed this to my 8-year-old, to whom everything relates to farting somehow, and incredulously, he didn't think of it! Peel me off the floor-- there's hope!

I love the colors in this one! (And the trees, and the butterflies and the girls...)

Ces said...

HAHAHAHAHAHAH!
Hard tools.
HAHAHAHAHA!
Well, they use tools at the toll booth I think...
Sometimes things get stuck...

Ces said...

Oh I am not sorry, unless you are trying to thread a needle. Yes, she would say I have a filthy mind and I should pray the Hail Mary 5 times and then in the end she would say she loved us and we really believed her because I sure feel her right now as if she was with us. Oh God, what if there was no heaven? I would ask and she would say that I am so evil and so wicked.but she will love me just the same and end it with "But I love Bella more" and Bella loves me more" and she would say that I would understand because we are two older sisters loving our little sister. And I will be the sister that drove mom crazy and she would be the sister who did the right thing all the time. HAHAHAHA! OMG. I can't believe I remember her words and I can see her with her pajamas and imagine uu and her , she says she has greasy hair and you love her anyway. HAHAHAH! Ah this blogging is crazy, isn't it? I thought the heart had chambers, mine is just one whole chamber so full of love and alive.

A Tortoro fart, love it! What a Tortoro too, he's awesome! Love those beautiful trees and sweet butterflies with those darling girls.

Like everyone else said the world would just not be right without your sweet and wonderful drawings - you are so gifted, not only with art but with just being you - and if you didn't take up drawing again, then none of us would've ever met! Thank goodness for friends - Happy Sunday!

Aaack! How did you get in there? Yes and No. I need to learn to let go and not give a crap shoot in this world. HAHAHAHA! My dilettante artistic activity is eroding me and so does my intense analytical job. So I should really be a tool repair woman at a toll booth. I wonder if they have bathrooms there? Do they?

By the way, I just had a tutorial on Totoro and Ponyo. Oh my.

I just want you to know that I was sleeping soundly and was awakened by the biggest boom ever. I opened my eyes and was immediately overcome by fumes...I had to bury my face on the pillow. Totoro farts are noxious and debilitating. I don't think that little girl will be floating like that so dreamily if she was riding his fart wave.

Now as for hippo farts, I saw a hippo fart in a pond at the San Antonio zoo. OH MY WORD!!!

Time to get ready.

Have a great day! TSUP!

I hope not..but I shall bring a roulade over to celebrate you..remember we are next door neighbors in that lovely world you painted...thank you for sharing your expensive real estate with me. "we don't care how the organ is feeding the brain"

"we are talking in paper term, the work effort..."

"there is no decision point for diagnosis because Ces is just going to map diabetes to 3.1256734529..."

"musculoskeletal is more granular"

"top organ"

"we can ballpark the top organ and map it..."

"that's when Ces is going to jump on board..."

Ces - "Call me anytime, I'll be happy to jump..."

L. - "That's a song isn't it?"

(So I am going to jump on the top organ. HAHAHAHAHA!)
