Spring Cleaning

Thank you, everyone, for being my co-conspirators during my graffiti delinquency in the previous post. That was a ton of fun!

The weather is warmer, the sun is out. Aaah, it's spring! Time to fling open the windows, air out the house and the kids and the dog. Time to break out the skirts and sandals and pin a new fabric rose onto a favorite sun hat. And time to gather all the dust bunnies and shoo them away.

I received a box of love from aimee at artsyville, just in time for my spring cleaning. In it was a collection of the cutest clothespins, embellished with tiny colorful works of art. Perfect for hanging up doodads and art, like one of her happy doodlecards. She also sent me the most wonderful fabric rose from Alix at Crabcakes. It's happiness on a pin, and now I can pin it to my hat and look like her twin. Yay! Thank you so much, aimee. I love you, girl! Please check out artsyville for oodles of candy-colored art, quirky photographs that make you smile, and nifty craft inspirations!

Look! The magnolias have exploded! Around the corner is a street lined with white magnolias, and each morning I walk beneath them and just gaze up into the bliss, letting the sweet subtle fragrance waft down over me. I can't think of anything more beautiful than that. Oh, wait. Yes, I can. This.

Wow, how intricate could it be attaching little artworks to a clothespin, bravo to Amie! Now you can use these lovely clothespins to hang Linda's hoodie with!;)

And yes, the unmistakable touch of Dr. Sinclair never fails to impress.:) Who's the adorable little girl hanging upside down? Is that Emma? I just wanna tickle her to join in the fun. Even Oz seems to enjoy the experience!

And hey, that's Bella Luna in the end! Thank you very much Bella!:)

What a clever little illustration - I love it! Your pic of the Magnolias is just wonderful. Reminds me so much of one that grew in my cottage garden in England. It was very old, and bursting with blossoms right in front of my bedroom window. It was such a delight!
And Bjornik's 'Bella Luna' is stunning! Great post!

I need to get rid of a bunch of dust bunnies! Love your drawing as usual!

Bella, this is sooo cute :)
i feel how the girls are having fun hanging there, i imagine them talking to each other...

you have some great skills and your creativity should be an envy for some children book illustrators (i sometimes see some children books and say to myself "i'd be scared if i was a child who reads it'" LOL... your touch is really something, im telling ya)

Good morning Sunshine!

Oooh those feet. Those adorable delicious cute little feet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's beautiful weather here today and yes, my nails are very happy, hot and red. I always love to suck or lick my nails after a manicure. You are a creative genius. Period.

There goes Bjornik with his foot/tickle issue again.

I love how you incorporated the clothes hangers with your illustrations. Your little children drawings are the most adorable! Have you ever thought of making an illustrated journal for your two girls, sort of a baby book but instead it will focus on their growing years? You have to make two journal books, one fore each girl. Maybe you can create an entry every week.

Renee Lovers sounds good, quite gay and jolly but someone will call it Renee's Lovers and that would be real gay. or call it Linda's Chilies Verdes. Dang, how do you spell the plural of Chili?

The Bradford Pears are in bloom!

Hi, Linda my Hoodie Buddy! Oh, no no no no. I would never smash little piggies. I like my little sausages nice and plump. Not to worry. Hope you had a great day!

Hiya, Becky! Hahaha, your spelling errors are what make your comment AWESOME, are you kidding?

Yes, Bjornik, that was SUPPOSED to be Emma. But she got all pouty when she saw it, saying I did her a great disservice by showing her underwear. So it is no longer Emma. It is just some random little girl I plucked off the street.

Oh, Caroline! Magnolias by your bedroom window! That must have been heaven every spring. Pink? White?

Caren, so YOU're the one who left your dust bunnies at my house! They were a-multiplyin'! ;)

Aw, Dusik, thank you. But seriously, there are so many more childrens books that are awe-inspiring. sigh. Something to reach for, I guess.

Ces! Don't put your toes in your mouth! Don't they put formaldehyde in nail polish? Well, something chemically, anyway. But then again, if it gives you "visions" for your next drawing, well then, by all means. And the pear trees! Ooooh, I miss them. Love their popcorny whiteness. And isn't it funny how the trees themselves are shaped like pears?

I agree, Diana, I love this time of year. So many people here have allergies, though, and they hate spring. :(

Ces said...

I am sure they use a lot of chemicals but I don't eat it. Anyway, we have lovely weather here today and I am on my fifth TRUNK drawing but I do not like 2 of them so I am only on my third. Aww! maybe someday Emma will find it cute and it will be her again.

Oooh! Sounds like a lot of fun. I love epsilon-fests of any kind and any age! They are so lucky. They have no idea the Mother-hen is a wonderful and much-loved artist! Pizza-tortilla sounds delicious!

I love your little girls, Bella! And hooray for spring, it can't come sooner enough! :-)

PS. I do know the story of Hachiko, it is indeed very, very touching...

Beautiful, beautiful picture - what an adorable thing to do with those clothes pegs! I really like your recent photo/ illustration mixtures. They have a really cool quality to them. I think your characters are so real and lovely that dropping them in with real things almost makes me imagine they exist, which is a nice thing to imagine. :-)

Oh gosh, it's bed time. If I have all sorts of weird dreams about 2 dimensional people hanging from washing lines I'll let you know.

Awwww, sooooo cute!!! I just love your little characters... and they look adorable hanging from the clothes pins. You are so clever.

Also enjoyed reading and viewing your chalk adventure, hee hee! You little scamp you!

Bella your husband and I have things in common. We both love you and I also sweep things into drawers, but not all of the time. Only when I am completely exhausted.

Love Renee xoxo

Thank you, all you spring-lovers. :) And thank you again, aimee!

Rachel, I guess I need to write some sort of disclaimer: Not responsible for freaky dreams of any nature. View at your own discretion.

rachelhoward said...

Actually I did have some REALLY freaky dreams, but none of them were related to this. A lot seemed to involve not being able to close doors to dark, scary barns because of high winds. And kittens coming out of said barns. Read into that whatever you will...

You blog just oozes energy Bella, can't believe how much you post between my visits! Love the cutie characters hanging from your pegs :)

What a cute illo! Where's the photo of the colorful polka dots??? Hmmmmmmm? Come on, ya know ya wanna!!!

Those little clothes pins and sketches are just too cute.

I guess Japanese magnolias are very different from Southern US magnolias. I never knew how widespread, or how many different ones that there are.

Round here they have big glossy green leaves that stay on year round and humongous creamy white flowers in the summer that smell intoxicating. The lower branches sweep the ground so the area by the trunk makes a great hidden playhouse for little girls.
Here's the wikipedia on the Southern one
