Flower Girls Project: Nos. 5 & 6 of 11
Everybody knows you need a certain amount of poise for a tea party.
Alyssa and Emma shared honeysuckle teaUnfortunately, these little ladies seem to have lost their poise.
"Is that me and Nona?"
"No."
"Who is that?"
"That's you and Alyssa."
"Oh, Alyssa! She's my best friend."
"Yes, I know. Does that look like Alyssa?"
"Yes. Except for the eyes. Those eyes are just...dots."
"Yes, well...."
"Are you going to put this on your bloggy thing?"
"Yes."
"Yay! And what are you going to say about it? Let's rehearse, ok?"
"Ok. This is Alyssa and my daughter."
"And....?"
"And they are having honeysuckle tea."
"Oooh, honeysuckle! And....?"
"And what?"
"And her name is....?"
"Oh. And her name is Emma."
"Good, say that."

Oh, I am going to faint...
...oh, what happened...Good heavens!!! Bella, you are so good. Everything you touch becomes lovely. I cannot get over how gentle and sweet your creations are. I am really short of breath, I am choking, I kid you not. I am serious!!! Aaaaw. I have to say it. I love you!
Emma ! Sweet precocious little Emma. She knows what she wants. I love that girl! She is a mental ninja just like her mother!!!
Beautiful all over.
*Sob!*
(Really, and I don't do the crying shit)
Gotta go to work. It's midnight!
Oh for heaven's sake, Ces, get up. I just cleaned the floor. Are you sure you're not gagging?
Oh Bella!!they are very adorable and sweet...I love them!!You know?I am a lover of flower girls.. ;p
Sweet precious little girls having their honeysuckle tea party.
I love the bees, that are chasing them.
Hugs
Carolyn
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!
It's Emma! I just love both of you. Emma is so adorable and cute except that she only has dots for eyes.:P
I'm loving everything you've done so far. Oh Ces, move over I can't take 2 lovely illustrations at a time, I'm gonna drop dead. Wake me up if the next illustrations are up.
I may resurrect her if a certain artist of adorable little poised epsilons will confide in me the date her mother delivered a beautiful, intellectual, dilettante artiste extraordinaire...I can only beg so much. I am a proud woman. Please...
Oh Bjornik, don't drop dead here! Bella just cleaned her floor and she may banish your cadaver to the polka dotted street!
THUMP! *Smack* OW!
Gosh darnit. WHO LEFT THIS DEAD BODY HERE?!
You are evil!
Look! all the cake's gone. Here lies Bjornik...in Bella's kitchen.
Burn! burn her! I will take photographs of her burning and email it to you.
(This is not even multitasking :))
Choose any painting (that I still have with me) or any drawing you like...
So lovely! and funny and sweet!
So pretty! Lavender and honeysuckle - such sweet smelling flowers and equally sweet are the little girls in your pictures! Love the details - honeysuckle being poured out and the little girls fleeing the bees!
This is nuts! I am done begging. Hmph!
I'll pour myself a cup of coffee and drink by myself instead... :(
Bleh!
Those illos are absolutely adorable! I don't know what is more sweet! The illustration or the conversation you shared about the illustration, LOL!
So cute! I'm so glad to know your blog and YOU!
Thanks for visiting my blog today and entering the giveaway! :)
Wonderful & charming!
Thank you so much, Carolyn, Flower Girl (you belong in one of these illos), Maria Eugenia, Caroline, and TattingChic (crossing my fingers!). Please ignore the bodies on the floor. They shall be removed shortly.
Whoops, missed you, ArtSnark! Thank you!
i agre with ces, these are to much. they are so wonderful. It looks like they just flow out of your creative hands onto paper. They are simple and clean and perfect for the subject. Are you going to sell prints in an etsy shop?
Aww, thank you Messyfish. I wish they just flowed, but they don't for me. No, I wasn't planning on selling them at the moment. I was hoping to get them printed and bound for the teacher as a gift.
Oohhh so cute. I love that little dialogue between your daughter and you. Just gorgeous Bella!
Beautiful again!!
5 to go
So if you get them printed, you can have several copies and then sell them to us, maybe when you are back in the states?
intriguing story and characters!! i would like to have the flower tea pot too ;p
These are wonderful, as is your charming little daughter! HOW SWEET IS SHE?
Thank you for creating "Renee Day." That was extremely special!
xoxoxo
Bella, do these girls all wear glasses?? cuz i can't figure out for the life of me how they see with dots for eyes!!
your little monkey reminds me sooooo much of my meredith. ...and do you know she looooves your work so much and always ask "which one is me mommy"?!!! and then pretends the others little girls are her friends alyssa, claire, zoe etc.
these are gorgeous and precious again!! i'm loving the colors u chose for each. it's making me want to redo meredith's bedroom.
i would think that when u are creating your little girls u not only have your tongue sticking out but a big ole smile with a giggle here and there. haha...picture that.haha
btw u and ces are killn' me!!
Bella, I LOVE your flower girl series. it is so cute.
Oh Bella, this is the kind of little story that I live for.
Little Emma, and the eyes look like dots, and yes say it like that when you said her name.
I completely picture the whole scene and it has set the tone for me to have a very happy day.
I would pay a zillion plus dollars to be in that exact place where you are right now.
Bella, all of life is amazing, but where you are right now, in the mothering years, where you are everything to them. What a blessed place to be.
These pictures are beautiful, as usual.
xoxo
Love Renee
Oh, Bella, your Emma is so precious and darling. Your flower girls series are amazing. Each one of them is equally splendid.
Partly because of you and our crew of Ces and Bjornik and Linda I had the most wonderful day. Family played a huge roll too of course.
You, madam have the ability to make me laugh out loud and cry all in the same sentence.
Oh and by the way I keep hearing from people that you are brilliant. I hear it all over the net. I hear words tossed around like 'intellectual, brilliant, intellectual, brilliant'.
Okay back to you again.
Bella you know I think it is better that we do get attached. When I die, you will have loved me though. Yes it hurts, but while I was and am alive you give me so much love and I love you for it.
Don't ever be afraid to love because no matter what it is always worth it.
Bella I love you back and knowing you makes me have better dreams.
And by the way, I have never ever and never will feel compelled to come here out of obligation.
But I am however compelled to come here so that I can come to adore and be adored with you.
Love you Bella, you are an intellectual, you are brilliant.
xooxo
Love Renee
Oh the details are all so perfect. I'm just repeating what everybody else said, but it's true: these are just lovely.
ooooohhhh.... poor little Julie-Anne and Ellie :(
i hope they escaped the swarm and are now in a safe and relaxing place :)
bella, i've looked at these two additions a few times now, wondering what i most wanted to say about them. you capture something special about childhood and the child in everyone: for want of better words, i'd call it a combination of innocence and wonderous adventure. your ability to capture simple pleasures AND goosebump dangers (but not really dangers!) reminds me of the great fairy tales.
i'll bet you're exhausted from yesterday and renee's shindig! it was watching an epidemic in the making. have you read malcolm gladwell's 'the tipping point' about how epidemics occur?
that's what it was!
take care of yourself, bella.
xoxo
I am so in love with your artwork. It is so enjoyable to follow your blog and get a glimpse of your fantastic art.

Oh for crying out loud! There is so much Barney the Purple Dinosaur stuff going on around here:
"She loves you,
You love her
We're one big happy family
With a knick knack paddiwack
give the dog a bone
this old man covered in cake came rolling home..."
hahahahahahhaah ces u are so funny!!!
good! :D
Aw, how cute.
Bella, it's simply gorgeous. Your characters just look like they're alive. And the colors are gorgeous.
your precious little girls could never lose their poise no matter what they're up to! i want to see these little babes in a children's book someday!
Gosh, thank you, all. You are all biased, but I love you for that. :)
Oh, Linda. Your little monkey and my little monkey -- that would be such a sight! I so want to get them together one day. And yes, my tongue's a little sore from all the doodling I've been doing lately.
KJ, thank you. So sweet of you to say. My plump little kids with giant heads, dotty eyes and tiny extremities are like rorschachs. The innocence and wonderment come from the viewer.
Renee, all that you've been hearing about me on the net -- I suspect it's all coming from one person. And her name starts with a C. Don't believe 'em. All rumors and lies. Love, love, love you.
Ces, this is a Barney-Free zone. Get him OUTTA HERE!
Hi, aimee! Give me one of the books in birdie & boo's library, and I'll doodle on the back cover. There, wish fulfilled.
To Bella this concerns:
These are absolutely fascinating and captivating images of the most adorable rapidly vanishing small quantities. Speaking of vanishing, gone, the insane, intense, fiery and passionate tree hugger. I myself and me, likewise a rapidly vanishing small quantity, but crazy wicked child of the East, therefore I sign
Bata Batuta
your flower illustrations capture all the feelings I love the most about flowers and vintage Children's book flower images :) your colour's are smashing!
Bella, Please save me!!!!!!!!!
Thank you....Bata Batuta...in rapidly vanishing quantities.
And thank you, too, Val!
Ces, you will always find refuge here. Sanctuary, Saaaanctuary!
If you want to see Ces again, bring ransom. Hurry, I will cut her hair to baldy look!
That is just SO adorable, Bella! Not only the illustrations, which are so tender and precious, but that conversation between you and Emma... Very, very, very cute!
I like their faces, the textures, the colors, and the tiny bit of shading you put in. Nice work. :)
Exquisite! You are an inspiration, Bella!
Ha ha, Emma! She cracks me up!
Pardone moi:
Since no one is taking me seriously, I have given you an update status of Ces. See for yourself.
Oh please sell them! I would be your first customer. Adorable as always.
absolutely adorable!
It is a deal bat girl. Love you.
xoxoxo
This is so adorable, but the post itself, is hilarious! I just love the dialogue...lol!

Breathtakingly beautiful! I LOVE their hair!!
But the leaf is cleverly set up!
Bella you are going to laugh.
People are now asking me if Bella is my best friend.
I answer that if I had a best friend, yes, Bella would be it.
I just saw an amazing award.
I need it printed and sent to me. How do I go about getting what I need. har har
xoxo
Love Renee
Each piece is wonderful! There is nothing like honeysuckle tea! Ummm you take me back to my childhood~
bella, renee as your best friend? grab her, girl. you'll never regret it. and she won't either. some things are just meant to be, but i think you know that already.
love to you, bella,
kj
Bella I am honoured to be your friend. I think you are witty, intelligent, fun, caring, compassionate, and I think when people speak, you take the time to listen.
But beside all of those things, for me it is something more, something that can't be put into words. Something I feel about you that makes me happy to know you exist.
Bella on my February 6, 2008 post entitled 'Some fantasies are better left as fantasies.' If you feel like reading it you will see that it is not always chin up.
But of course it never could be are it wouldn't be real at all.
I think there were times when I felt like I crawled out of my bed and went and sat in my coffin on the couch and would have tears drip down my face from morning to night, the tears felt great on my face. I repeated this for about a month and than I just wasn't able to sustain that level of sadness anymore. It just wasn't me.
But you are right about trudging through. When I was on chemo Angelique would say 'When in hell, march straight through.' And that is what I did.
But there are many times when I grieve for the life I won't have. But that is okay too.
I know when the cancer social workers would try to get me on anti depressants (everyone in my group is on them) and I just thought 'I'm not depressed, I'm sad but I'm not depressed.' I don't know if there really is a difference but for me there is.
One of the social workers once said while I'm sitting there with tears dripping off my face 'Renee, you seem depressed.' "No shit, I said." I remember thinking get real. 'Maybe you need something.' "Yeah, I need to not have cancer."
I totally agree with you that it is a good thing to work through your emotions. I totally go with how I am feeling at any given time because for me it helps me.
When Josephine was born I remember thinking "she will never know me, I will be an etc., as in your grandma use to; etc. etc. etc." I cried for a few days over it, but I had to accept that and in the meantime just love her every day that I have the honour of knowing her. But because I go there it helps me. Does that make any sense to you?
The failure part well that is another story.
Ces, I love her. She is so funny. I think she will be good for me because she is so entertaining and original. That is it: Ces is original.
By the way, guess whose bedroom curtains are red?
Sorry about this long post. If you do read that post, give a comment on it and let me know what you think.
See how selfish I am, I almost signed off without asking how the family is doing?
Love Renee xoxox
I bit my tongue now I know why. You two arth talking about me! I thought I wath thewing beef adobo when in fact it wath my tongue. Now I can't thpeek.
I came here to see if the leaf table is still holding up.
Beautiful, all these illustrations really should feature in a little book and sometime I must try honeysuckle tea . .
I tried sucking a flower yesterday but a fire ant bit my lip! So much for flower teas for me.
Just wonderful - I love the pictures and the dialogue you quoted makes it perfect! Ces just said it perfectly - "gentle" - that's absolutely it. Perfect.
I've got some serious catching up with blogs to do, I'm way way way behind. I'm about to put my house on the market and the whole place is immaculate. How can I draw? I'd make the place untidy.
I would faint or drop dead or something, but there's no room on the floor. I love them enough to, but I won't. :-)
Lovely!!
Bella I just was reading your comment to my 'Fantasies' post.
1. I didn't need to go through the crap I always appreciated the wonderful.
2. I might not have blogged but I would know you. I do know you; we have been friends long before this.
3. This is a big one -- I am and always have been completely honest and generous with my love. Always. And as a matter of fact having cancer has reined me in big time.
4. I agree with you on the fact that I am not afraid to die either. I just don't want too. It is the pain that I think will make a person want to die sooner.
5. I asked that very question on facebook whether people thought it was better to die by inches or suddenly. To me Angelique gave the best answer by saying that we all are dying by inches everyday. Every one of us.
I respect you so much Bella and we would have been friends and are friends and will be again. Some souls need to come together.
Love Renee xoxoxo
Bella everyone got tricked on Wednesday's Women. There was no party it is totally made up.
I just was making fun of myself while at the same time puffing out my chest like a peacock.
Hope you are having a great day.
Love Renee xoxox
Bella ~ did you decide to sell these yet?
wow..fabulous work! the girls are so cute!
Oh Bella, these drawings are incredible. They are my favorites so far. Wait, didn't I say that on your last drawings? I can't make up my mind... no... I don't want to make up my mind. I don't have to choose just one. They are all my favorite so far. No... seriously, your drawings capture so many childhood memories, one of which is with Honeysuckle. As a child I would take the delicate flower of the Honeysuckle and pull out the Stigma and taste the little drop of sweetness on the end. I'm sure many of us have done this as a child.
The bees chasing the children is also adorable.
I can't wait to see what your imagination comes up with next.
You are an amazing artist.
Have a great day!!
Bella, my circle...

100! Where is my prize?
Ha! That’s what you get for sleeping!
Bella I am just off to bed, but you made me laugh.
Is that for real? About the paring of the apple?
If you are from Alaska? har har. I totally love your husband already. Especially when he said that will be nice for the blanket from his Mom.
See dear even when wives know; mothers know better.
In the mothering years everyone caters to the kids, it almost seems like the husbands are a by-product.
Have a fantastic weekend darling friend.
Are you getting excited for the move?
Love Renee xoxo
Oh Bella, I have just realised how similar our drawings are this week!though yours is far lovelier I must say.. x
Dear Bella , I received a blog award that I'd like to pass on to you. Also I invite you to a game! look at my blog for details :)
Hi Bella.
Your drawings are so amazing!
Thanks for sharing.
Have a great weekend.
Lois
Bella I have seen your painting of the man in high school. I see your work now with all its fun so I know very well who can do absolutely anything she wants.
I know someone (you) who is so talented that there is nothing you can't do.
I can't believe the apple. You must have had a very sophisticated childhood.
We would get an apple out of a box of old apples that my Dad fanagled cheaper at the grocery store. Yum yum, what a little bruise on the apple or banana, no big deal.
I think if someone even handed me a pared apple, I would think they wanted me to start slicing it for pie.
Isn't life and how we have lived and are living now the most interesting thing ever.
Cheers to you and to me and to what this world can be.
Love Renee xoxo
Dear Apple Parer, I want my apple cored and pared. Please remember that. And oh, I want a blanket too! Hahahaha!
Good morning, good morning, good morning, Good!
Any special plans for the weekend? That is, besides having a fantastic one.
Love Renee xoxo
Oh Bella the kids must be thrilled to have grandma and grandpa over. Exciting.
Have a great time.
As far as the BIG BAD wolf is concerned, he can keep his costume on or take it off; I just don't want him to start yapping while he is having his lunch.
Love Renee xoxo
Bella is it his feet I should be looking at. I was checking out his snout.
I see that we three are all lovers of solitude.
A vacation by yourself, how wonderful, mind if I come. har har har.
I totally am crackiing myself up.
It must be the wolf as he is at the pre-eating stage and his breath tickles.
Did I tell you how the wolf and I got to this point of him eating me? No?
I said "my what big testicles you have" and the rest is history. Read about it if you want, it is all over.
Love Renee xoxo
Oh my gawd. Renee is losing it. She needs some forced solitude! Hahahaha!
Har har har. You are too funny.
xoxoox
The word verification if 'monarin' I thought it kinda sounded like moaning.
Bella I was just wondering if your parents want your autograph because of how amazing your art is.
Love you. xoxo
That's interesting what Renee wrote. Your parents asking for your autograph. Do they know you are brilliant or did you keep this secret from them? My parents knew I loved art and wanted to study art but they never knew I painted. They have not seen one painting of mine before they died. I think they may have seen some watercolors and ink and pen drawings at my sister's house. She had them framed and displayed. It's funny how our families and friends are so used to what we do. To them we are just a wife, a mother, a friend. That is probably why we blog. We found a place to share ideas and showcase our work without the hassle of getting dressed and paying for a cup of coffee and a croissant, although, dear God, someday, I would love to meet you for coffee or tea in New York. Then your hands and my hands will touch and tickle our minds which have met already.
Oh, Ces. Really? They did not see one painting?
My parents knew I liked art as a teen, but they have no idea I doodle now or that I blog. My side of the family has no idea. I told a couple of my closest friends last year that I had joined an artist's community online, and you know what? Not one of them expressed interest in seeing what I do, which was fine with me. I would have felt too self-conscious showing them. I'm so grateful to have found our little salon, to have found people with like minds and similar passions. My world has exploded with new friends.
We will meet one day, dear Ces. New Mexico, perhaps?
I have never been to New Mexico. I heard it's a beautiful state. I have seen the New Mexico skies on Skywatch Friday and I wonder why I live here instead of there. Oh I forgot, I am a clinical analyst not a painter! Hahaha!
Hi again Bella! I received a blog award that I'd like to pass on to you... Check out this page for the details: http://valerielorimer.blogspot.com/
No worries if you're not into the whole tagging thing, I hope you don't mind that I linked you. I'm such a big fan of your work.
Take care!
val
I really love what you are doing with these flower girls! You have two lovely characters cute as can be that are full of life and energy and can be in so many scenarios... The teachers will cherish them for ever! I hope you consider making a book/story from it. I see one emerging.... I really do! Fantastic work! I love what you are doing with the backgrounds and the line work. I'm blown away!
wonderful!!!poor little ladies!!!:)))))))))))!!
I love this series, I want to crawl into the picture and have honeysuckle tea with them...
Aren't these little precious girls going to run further than Japan! Please they need to be published!
I am in awe... I came by earlier and left without a peep because I was speechless by their beauty...
