It's Snowing!

Wooohooooo! It snowed today in my mailbox! I received this gorgeous hand-tatted lace from incredibly talented and nimble-fingered TattingChic. I was completely blown away when I first learned that these intricate beauties were made by hand, comprised of tiny, tiny stitches of fine thread. It requires a healthy dose of time and patience and skill to make one of these, and I'm grateful that this kind of artistry still lives on.

I am in such admiration of her work that when she offered to do an exchange, I jumped at the opportunity. And look! She not only gave me a snowflake, she also added an amazing heart. Just look at all that intricate detail! Wow! I wish you could see and feel one of these for yourself. They look delicate, but the stitches are quite strong and firm.

Thank you, TattingChic. You are incredibly sweet and amazingly talented and always keep me laughing. I shall cherish these forever.

Now go check out her other works. You will be blown away, too! Shoo, away with you.

Your work makes me smile. I love the drawing but the idea of a small person catching the tatted snowflake on her tongue is a stroke of genius.
I note that you live in Japan.
Could I impose upon you to look at my blog and see if you recognize the tatting book photo under the heading I Want it? If so please contact me at clesliea at aol dot com.

Hehehe, Ces! Now which pronunciation would you be using today? ;) Oh, you should see this snowflake. MUCH, much finer than crocheting.

Bella thank you so much for participating in my defence strategy when I get arrested for art theft. I will say 'what I didn't know the artist, and oh I didn't know I should have put artist unknown until my dear friend Bella told me.'

Wow, that hand tatting is just amazing.

Oh, beautiful mailbox snow. It is a very special work, the craft, art of the hands.
Thank you for your comment. A giant hug. Niq.

Bella Sinclair said...

Hey, Niq. Every mailbox should have mailbox snow, don't you think? Thanks for the giant hug. I giant hug you back.

Lucky you! Tatting is done with little shuttles and intricate knots. I did a bit before it became too hard on the eyes, but now my granddaughter does it and I have lovely snowflakes to hang on my tree as well as the occasional lace trim around the neckline of an otherwise a little too dark dress.

Bella Sinclair said...

Oh, Arija, you tatted, too? It seems like such a time-intensive and skillful hobby. I wish I had the patience to learn. Your pieces must be gorgeous! Thank you so much for stopping by.
