IF - Celebrate

My dog loves to scatter birds. Slowly, slowly he creeps. Then BAM! He throws himself at them with a gutteral war cry, sending them flapping in all directions. Afterward, he has an extra kick to his step as he celebrates another job well done.

Wow my word verification is 'kingsnob' LOL.

This is so sweet - I love your dog drawing, my dog does the same but when we're on the beach, the gulls get their own back and go for him!

i've noticed kids are like that too. i'm sometimes envious of the pure joy they get from something so simple. my six year old still chases birds! darling drawing :)

LOL! I'm laughing at your explanation of the illustration! How cute! I personally love it when I am walking down the street and I have to walk past a flock of birds and they scatter...there's something exhilirating in feeling the rush of their wings in flight! It does feel celebratory! :)

Very good, I love the reality of the picture.

Gosh, thank you, all. I was hesitant to put it up this week, because it's so simple. But you've made me feel better about it.

Milkberry: HA! Yes, I am a King Snob.

Nicky: Ooooh, hang on to that little pup of yours. Those gulls can get nasty!

aimee & TattingChic: It IS exhilarating, whether you're a kid or not. Maybe it's a tiny power-trip. Just a taste of world domination. :)

Hi Bella,

Great post and drawings, loved it.
Oz looks so cute.

Dogs just love doing what you described.
When we took our dog Heidi to the beach she used to jump about in the waves and always thought she would be able to leap up and catch a seagull. Lovely to watch.

Hugs
Carolyn

A great illustration of "Celebrate." I always think of ribbons when it's time to get down to celebrating things.

Thank you, Indigene & Kathy.

Hi, Carolyn. Aaah, it's so gratifying watching an unabashedly joyful dog, isn't it?

Hey there, Linda. Mi blog es su blog. I'm happy to have you here. Little M inherited your artsy genes, that's for sure. Do G and E paint as well?

Hi, Laura. Oh, good, I didn't mangle his portrait up too badly, then. He is a shetland sheepdog -- a miniature collie. Good guess. :)

Thank you, Jessica. Ribbons -- me, too!

Danyell, thank you. :)

Bjornik, well, I'm inspired by you, of course! I'd like to think the birds are happy and not angry at having to abandon whatever they're pecking at.

Thank you so much, Carmen. A simple pleasure deserves a simple illustration. :)

A stealth dog! He's teasing himself. I wonder what he'll do if he ever catches one, not that I think he really wishes to catch one. I think he loves to cause quite a stir! Well done!

Wow! It's just so amazing! Your little dog is full of energy chasing after those cute birds:)

ArtSparker said...

Lovely energetic composition. For a dog, this sort of thing is like a joke for a human.

your dog loves the beauty of movement :))... creative dog, just like you Bella!

Caroline said...

Your dog certainly knows how to celebrate, and you've captured it so perfectly, Bella!

Bella Sinclair said...

Ces, I think he's really a chicken at heart. So I'd be curious, too, should he ever catch one. Does Daisy hate birds?

Oh, Yoon See, he has too much energy! I cannot wait until he is old and lethargic. Like me. :)

Hahaha, ArtSparker. Thank you.

Hello, Dusik! I agree. To feel the gentle puffs from scores of flapping wings is a wonderful experience.

Thank you, Artemis, Shugar, Isay, and Caroline. I'm honored by your visit. :)

What a funny dog ... so playful and full of life. Are the birds showering him with flowers and regaling him with ribbons? I guess they think he's adorable too :)

HEY BELLA!!!! thanks for stopping by my blog.. so glad u liked my 1st video! i enjoyed making it so much...i will be doing more! i used oils ..i only paint with oils..love the consistancy and blendability??(is that a word???LOL)

do u live in japan? darn! why so far away? :( are u from there?

Bella Sinclair said...

Hehe, Luci. Yes, I felt better drawing this if I imagined the birds enjoyed it, too. They don't, I know.

Linda! Awesome video. I had NO idea oils had blendability. No, I'm not from Japan, though it's a lovely country. I grew up in CA and lived my adult life in NY. We've only been in Tokyo for 1.5 years and will be moving to AZ in June. Still far from PA, I know. Nevertheless, I'll try shouting over my backyard fence to see if you can hear me.

Bella I adore this drawing!!!!
That's my dog's job, to clear all the birds off the beach and out of our little back yard. Aren't they a joy?

This is simply delightful!!

How did I miss this one?! I'm horrified *shiver* :p
Aw, sounds like a dog I could like. ;) I like the pattern-like simplicity of the illustration.

Bella Sinclair said...

Thank you, Lolo!

And thank you, Chris. I don't know what's come over me.

Hi again, Nancy! I was thinking if I just put another bird in the upper left, it would make sort of a heart pattern, no?

This is delightful. I love the simplicity of the design and execution. Very charming.
