Happy Valentine's Day

On Valentine's Day here in Japan, it's the girls who give chocolates and sweets to the guys. Then exactly one month later, on March 14, they celebrate White Day when the guys return chocolates, jewelry and other gifts to the girls.

Some chocolatiers have recently begun making Reverse Chocolates for Valentine's Day, where the label is printed on backwards. These are for guys who want to give chocolates to their sweethearts today. I'm not sure that will let them off the hook for White Day, though.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Sending lots of love your way. Catch!

That sounds like fun! I agree that women may give Valentine's Day gifts to nice guys. I gave one to a very nice guy today - my husband! I love this drawing especially the elephant gift giver hiding the box of chocolates behind her? him?

Happy Valentine's to you Bella and I hope that you have a fabulous day.
Lovely tradition with V Day and White Day - we need more days like this where we exchange chocolates and gifts.

Love your little elephants ~ so very cute.

Hugs
Carolyn

Welcome, Shannon! I lived in NYC for a bit. Every time I saw the Empire State Bldg all lit up in red, I thought of Sleepless in Seattle. Hope you have sweet dreams. :)

Hello, Esque. Never one to turn down double gifts! :) Happy V Day!

Happy Valentine's Day, dear Ces! And did he get you something nice, too? I heart you!

Hi, Carolyn. :) Agreed. More love days! Right after I open my own chocolate shop. Have a beautiful day!

Happy valentine's day bella!! Do you make your own chocolate too?

Btw I read about the 7000yen millefeuille. That's one thing i never get about japan. Their cakes are ridiculously expensive!! It's so tiny, too!!

Thank you, Ben! Welcome. :D

Oh heavens, Milkberry, I don't make my own chocolate. Why, do you??? Nah, I'd just love to open up a shop and capitalize on all the obligatory gift-giving. Yes, there's a lot about this wonderful country that boggles the mind, ne?

Thanks, Sam. You know all about great characters, so I'm deeply flattered.

Hey, Vanessa! Gosh, I KNEW I felt a sudden burst of warmth there. Now I know it was from you. :) Thank you, beautiful!

Gosh, I must be living in japan without realising it - I gave my other half a white-chocolate covered heart shaped shortbread. He gave me... well, a card. :D Men...

Adorable elephants, I love the way he's moving the bricks around with his trunk (he looks like he's concentrating soooo hard!) and she's just there all coy, watching him. Really lovely!

Happy valentine's day!

Hiya, Earvin. It's more fun if you're a guy, I bet. hehehe

Yes, Edrian, White Day is bliss. Aaaah

Hahaha, Rachel! Well, look on the back. Is it Hallmark? It's the very best, you know....

Oh, Caren, yes I am lazy. Very, very lazy.

Thanks, Indigene. I agree, the beginning stages of love are unforgettable. I hope you had a fabulous V day, too.

Hehehe, Peter! Any excuse for chocolate. Heck, why do you even need an excuse?

Thanks, aimee. My sweetie shouldn't have sweets. So we all went out to a favorite Italian restaurant. It was a bella notte.

Ces, HA! Yes, sometimes that's the only way to get through to them.

Love you, too, Miss V!

aww, how utterly sweet they look! ...But I just got a creepy thought - how did she fasten that flower? Ear-hair? ;}

Very sweet - another expat in Japan has informed his readers of the use to which the Japanese put Christmas. Absorb (culture) & conquer.

Eric, Ooooo! Yes, that would be spectacular! I'd build me a giant Lego playhouse. Quick, someone call Lego!

Nancy, hahahaha! What flower? That's gum she's saving for later. :)

Hi, ArtSparker. Japan is an intensely interesting place to be!

Thanks for the hugs, Soulbrush. Hugs right back. :)

Aaawww... This is very adorable Bella.:) My Japanese friend gave me a ZooChan pendant when we parted ways and the girl elephant reminds me so much of her. Glad to have learned about the White Day, which also happens to be her birthday.

And I didn't catch a lot of love from you though. One even hit my forehead.:P

Björnik said...

And Happy Valentine's Day to you. See, you actually hit me hard that I forgot to greet.:P

What an interesting background story, Bella. I love the girl elephant sweetly approaching the boy elephant who is busy building lego construction, oblivious to his surrounding. Typical. Hehehe.

Bella Sinclair said...

Renee, you don't ever need to ask me. I'd be flattered if you ever took something I scratched out.

Hi, Isay! Happy non-Valentine's love day!

Oooooh, Luci. More than you know. heheheh!
