IF - Voices

In about a week's time, the country will be filled with the joyous voices of people celebrating the new year. Growing up in California, my family and I always watched the ball drop on TV and then toasted with a glass of Martinelli's sparkling apple cider. Not exciting, I know, but it was tradition. After college, I moved to the Big Apple. But in the 17 years I lived in or near NYC, I never spent New Year's in Time Square. Just a quickie drawing for this week.

Here's to a million and one fabulous things to come in 2009! Cheers.

Bella I lived twenty minutes from NYC for five years and never went to Times Square to watch the apple drop. I did see the fireworks though across the bay.

Bella, thank you very much for being my new friend. Your art, life and good nature are blessings and gifts.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

great illo… and a great new year's wish to you too… i have similar memories… one year my sister and i spent our first new year's alone and taped what seemed like hundreds of 'chitty ciiy bang bang" sayings all over the wall thinking that my parents would have trouble with the pronunciation… my sister's idea… but still great fun…

what a GREAT drawing! your doodles have brought me such joy this year; i'm so glad to have found you and your beautifully illustrated world.

only spent one new year in NYC and did not have the nerve to go to times square. i do NOT like large crowds. we were in a nightclub and even there i wanted to flee. too many people.

I've only been to NYC once; it was an overwhelming yet enchanted place to me. We watch the ball drop on the tele too, even when we lived in Switzerland. I love the perspective you chose!

Bella, I too wish you and yours a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Thanks for sharing your wonderful drawings with us!

What a great drawing! The perspective from the top is excellent. When I lived in NYC many years ago, I did go to Times Square once to see the ball drop. I got separated from my friends before the grand event and ended up taking the subway home to spend midnight safely by myself in my apartment! It was such a zoo! I hope you have a wonderful holiday in sunny California:)

LOL!! i have never been to new york but i have seen the countdown at times square every year on tv. i'd say this is a cool way of "seeing" it through an artist's work.

MERRY CHRISTMAS from the Philippine islands!!!

I grew up on LI and never spent New Year's at Times Square....Brooklyn was as close as I got :) I really never wanted to anyway...I prefer to be warm on New Year's Eve! This drawing is wonderful and has the charm of good old NYC.

That Santa collage you were inquiring about is from the archives and sold long ago. If you really wanted one, I could make a replica that would be fairly close. Let me know after the holidays !

Cheers !!!

You know something Bella, I swear you and I are cousins or long lost sisters! You and I have some of the same family traditions! he he he he. OMG! I really love your illo for Voices. I won't be going to the City to watch the ball drop. When Obama became president everyone was out in time square. You would have thought it was New Years it was so crowded. Anyway my friend, I wish for you and your family a very blessed and healthy New Year. It's going to the very best I can feel it!!!
