I keep all my precious childhood memories in a blond wooden box, tied securely with chocolate grosgrain ribbon. Every few years I open the lid and let them fly freely.
Cool picture. I like the fact that the pic is in black and white but the memories are in colour - the reverse of lots of representations. Now I know what grosgrain means too!
Your illustration truly delivers the message of reflecting upon positive childhood memories - wonderfully done. I'm glad to be back posting here at IF.
Nice! Great treatment of the image, I like the feel and the expression of interest in the little girl (I have a 2 year old daughter, so I'm very bias).
She's absolutely beautiful! I love the effect you have going here. That black and white with the touch of color is just so hot and fresh. I always enjoy looking at your work. You are something esle! When I grow up I want to be as talented and kind as you.
Beautiful illos!! Your drawings have a special sweetness to them. I love the quality of your pencil work and the way you have the only color coming out of the box.
This is so beautiful, I wish I had a box like that myself. I really like how you combined the pencil drawing with the colorful memories coming out of the box... I also love how you did the ground, with the round, squiggly lines...
Seriously awesome! I love the concept and fantastic imagery you've created. The scribbly floor is great as are the iconic "memories" fluttering above the girl. Imagination appeals to me in a big way and your illustration is packed with it.
Great drawing- love the limited use of color- totally playful and fun. Thanks for the comments! I looked into using the 2 spaces after a period and I'm sticking with it:)
This is brilliant, whimsical and beautiful! I love the color play and the movement and of course, the idea. I have a similar box where I keep my memories too. They really do add color to my life.

Awww...how sweet! The illustration really captures the spirit of a childhood memory box. I have a cedar chest (was my grandmother's) full of 'em.

I love the memories just floating away in color versus the dark background. Very magical!
Thank you for your well wishes. We were fortunate this time, although we nervously kept an eye on the track the entire weekend.
Now, I wish Ike would fly away as easily as the memories in your box!
