IF - Sail & A Gift From Luci

The beautiful and very non-platitudinal Luci generously shared with me the secret to getting my very own Answer Tree (a tree that inspires and answers all questions). Oh, joy of all joys! After seriously studying her directives, I set out on my quest.

On Wacky Wednesday, I went for a very long walk along a path I'd never been before. I stuffed my hat with all the nursery rhymes and songs that I had sung to my children when they were younger. I would use these as currency later at the Faerie Mart.

The butterfly garden along this path and its inhabitants are dedicated to talented Gillian, who noticed that these delicates creatures are sadly disappearing in her homeland.

To my great delight, I happened upon Ling and Lang, who were lazily sailing in a swan-shaped paddle boat. Neither was interested in doing any paddling, so they simply floated along with the warm summer breeze, sipping their green tea. Oh, Luci, you would have been so proud of me. I memorized the answer to their quiz and shouted it out quickly: Tikki Tikki Tembo No Sa Rembo Chari Bari Ruchi Pip Peri Pembo!

And behold, they gave me entry to Faerie Mart. I sought out the kind fairy and purchased from her for a few simple songs (and a jig for good measure) my very own Answer Tree! I've already put it to good use, as you can see, for it is growing at a rapid rate. I hung a double swing on it, see Luci? So one day, when it is tall and strong, you can swing with me and we can share poems and songs together!

Please forgive me for these poor quality pictures. I am on holiday (in Arizona, hooray!) and am without a scanner.

Girl you are just crazy talented!!! I like the fact that your illustrations always tells a story. Like I'm sitting here wondering where the lady headed towards the trees is up to. I really enjoy coming to your blog page time and time again. You are truly pure inspiration.

Thank you, Aimee. Sometimes I think I doodle so much that I forget how to be a mama!

Vanessa, you just made me blush right out of my skin. Your way-too-generous words mean a lot coming from someone as gifted as yourself!

Bella, what a lovely story you have with your beautiful illustrations. That’s quite a big ‘puffy’ hat. I love your idea of the swan as the vessel for Ling and Lang and all the little details you added like the umbrella and tea table. It really shows them having a leisurely time. I would like to get my own answer tree!
I am so grateful for your comments and visits on my blog. I really appreciate them.
I hope you are having a great time in Arizona!

Bella, you always have a surprise waiting to be discovered. Love the details in the swan boat, and what a big hat for your journey! You must know many more rhymes and songs than I do. Once again your drawings are magical. The next time you are in the US, pop by VA and see me. :-)

I love your little illustrated journey! The details and story is impeccable! Now, where can I get that hat? :)

Oh, so very, very well done! Bravo! I like your drawings. You deliver cute and endearing, without being "cutsey". That's a very fine line to walk and you do it well.

Enjoy the visit back to the States!

Dear Bella,
What incredible journey you had! How amazing that Ling and Lang are now sipping tea like proper lizards ought to do (glad they’re rid of the pina colada obsession. Too much calories, I tell you). And, I love the double swing. I hope you like to swing high. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. You delight so many people with your talent, Bella :)

*Where did you get that fabulous hat?!
**Hope you’re enjoying your vacation.

I think these drawings are lovely. There is a simple grace to them. Very nice story to. I love the idea of growing your own answer tree!

Outstanding work on all three! All three of your images seem to convey both whimsy and hope and the world needs more of both. The surrealism of the swing attached to the canned tree really appeals to me.

I was swept into this special world and the illustrations topped it off.

I'm sure you've been asked a million times, but I couldn't find the answer in the comments:

If you sell your illustrations (and you simply must) where can they be purchased?

I especially like those geckos! Oh and the canned tree-swing! Too cute!
