IF - Hoard

I love paper. Any kind of paper. Paper with texture, paper with patterns - florals, Italian prints, architectural, you name it. I love to feel it and play with it. I used to have stacks of paper in my workroom back in New York. I made journals and stationery and just played with all my craft supplies. But when we moved to Tokyo, I had to leave them all behind in storage. There just isn't enough room in our little apartment.

But a couple of weeks ago, I went to Asakusabashi with a friend, a district known for its dolls and silk flowers and beads and...washi. Oh, beautiful, beautiful washi! Miles and miles of it! I couldn't help myself. I bought so many wonderful sheets. They are now carefully hidden away at the back of my closet, safe from the hands of curious, crafty children. I have many glorious dreams for that washi. They're almost too beautiful to use.

I'm trying to become less of a one-trick-pony and have started playing with Illustrator. Thank you to everyone for all your wonderful inspiration and encouragement!

Nice!

I agree about paper!! Sometimes Paper is just to beautiful to use, its like it could be displayed on its own.

I like the multiple patterns in the piece and how it feels sorta flat in places (like a tribute to paper! =)
Very Nice.

When you are passionate about a subject (or medium)it's a lot easier to make beautiful work. I love how you incorporated the paper. The woman's glee is charming. Thanks for you comment - I'm happy that I've inspired you in some way!

This is so lovely, I to hoard paper. I just love it and will often just look at it rather than use it.

Wonderful illustration, great colours and textures and I'm entirely with you on the love of all things paper! I also had a good chuckle at your entry for IFs 'Punchline', it prompted me immediately to sketch a couple of kiwi's which I've just posted on my blog :)

Oh what a lovely and romantic pattern!
I am happy to learn what is "washi", here in Italy we have a type of paper called "Florentine paper", and I think you'd love.

Heya Bella,
From one paper fan to another, I understand how that feels, I had to leave my precious papers behind too. I had been collecting them for ages.... grrrr...!! May you have more & more space for your expanding paper collection in the future! Darumas might help wink*

I love this. I though it was rolls of fabric at first (which is my weakness) Your work is so sweet. The platypus and kiwi are too funny.
